Every great journey starts with a single step…Ours just happened to start thousands of miles away from home — on May 8, 2021, at a Primerica Conference in Naples, Florida.Meika, representing New York.Reuel, representing New Jersey.Two people from neighboring states… who had to travel all the way to Florida to meet. And the funny part? When we first met, we had no idea we were from the same area.But like any good Wizard of Oz story… destiny was already laying the bricks.⸻The First Brick 🧱After the conference, life threw in its first twist — Meika’s flight home got rerouted to New Jersey. Instead of leaving her stranded in Oz alone, Reuel stepped in, picked her up, and drove her safely back to the Bronx.Looking back, that car ride might’ve been the very first stretch of our Yellow Brick Road.We stayed friends after that — real friends. Talking life, business, dreams… but the timing wasn’t quite right yet. The road was still being built.⸻When the Road Lit Up ✨On December 10, 2023, the path finally became clear. Friendship turned into love — and once we stepped onto that road together, everything started moving fast. Since then, we’ve built a beautiful life — blending families and raising three amazing children together. Our home is filled with laughter, teamwork, faith, and purpose. Reuel often says he knew Meika was “the one” when he realized she was the only person who truly believed in — and supported — all of his bold, visionary, sometimes-crazy “Yellow Brick Road ideas. ”Every dream… she walked beside him.⸻Cultural Stops Along the Road 🌍No journey is complete without adventure.Our Yellow Brick Road has taken us across the Caribbean — traveling together to Jamaica 🇯🇲 and Guyana 🇬🇾 — falling in love not only with each other, but with each other’s culture.Meika is proudly Jamaican. Reuel is proudly Guyanese. And yes… there’s one debate that may never be settled Whose food is better? Meika will argue Jamaican cuisine all day…But Reuel confidently reminds everyone that Guyanese food is the real Emerald City of flavor 😂.⸻Family — Our Emerald City ❤️Along the journey, our families became part of the road too. Reuel’s parents absolutely love Meika…And Meika’s parents welcomed Reuel like he’d always been there.Two families… one path… walking with us toward forever.⸻The Proposal — Reaching the Emerald City 💍After miles of memories, love, growth, travel, culture, kids, and dreams…Reuel knew it was time. On Thanksgiving Day 2025 — a day centered on gratitude — he got down on one knee and officially asked Meika to continue walking this Yellow Brick Road with him for the rest of their lives. And without hesitation…She said YES.⸻And now, here we are…Still walking. Still dreaming. Still debating food. Still building. Hand in hand — following our Yellow Brick Road all the way to “I Do.”
